Descripción del productoCríticasThe writing is authoritative and lucid, and the author follows a solid development of the special and general theories of relativity before introducing contemporary cosmology. The presentation is streamlined in terms of selection of topics, but this allows a comprehensive discussion of the subject matter. ... Recommended. ― J. R. Excellent undergrad intro to General Relativity, but get the print version not Kindle Highly recommended for its content. But it's best to buy the print version. Unfortunately I started with the Kindle version only to discover than many of the equations are tiny and very difficult to read on the screen (even on a high res device like an iPad Pro), and of course they can't be resized. I don't know why publishers persist in putting out these Kindle versions of scientific and mathematical texts with unreadable equations. It's a shame they just can't seem to get it right. Caveat emptor.

PHY312: Relativity and cosmology. You are both lucky and unlucky to be taking this course. The point is that this course is essentially unique: I know of no other course anywhere that provides this thorough a treatment of both special and general relativity at a level accessibly with only elementary calculus.
a few solutions. Such a course fails to capture the flavour of modem cosmology, which takes classic physical sciences like thermodynamics, atomic physics and gravitation and applies them on a grand scale. In fact, introductory modem cosmology can be tackled in a different way, by avoiding general relativity altogether.

This book, alone, will get you through a General Relativity course. The texts that are usually used don't include much math, and the professors don't want to discuss the mathematical aspects of what we were doing. Most of the students do have a vague physical understanding of the subject, but are often not well prepared for the required ...
This course introduces the basic ideas and equations of Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity. If you have hoped to understand the physics of Lorentz contraction, time dilation, the "twin paradox", and E=mc2, you're in the right place.AcknowledgementsProf. Knuteson wishes to acknowledge that this course was originally designed and taught by Prof. Robert Jaffe.
This is the long-awaited second edition of the highly successful undergraduate text on classical relativity, dating from 1985. The broad structure and content remain similar to the first edition, but later chapters have been extensively revised to include the scientific advances of the past 25 years, notably in the areas of astrophysical sources of gravitational waves, the LIGO and LISA ...
